Job Description

Your Role at Raising Cane’s:

The Tax Accountant is an integral member of the team, responsible for all aspects of the transaction tax and property tax functions. This role supports the Senior Accountant - Tax with the filing of sales and use tax returns, as well as tracking and paying property tax bills.

Your Impact and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for all jurisdictions where Raising Cane’s operates
  • Maintains and processes tax accruals, payments, and responds to external inquiries about tax issues
  • Applies for and coordinates the delivery of sales and use tax permits, exemption certificates, and permit renewals
  • Reconciles the general ledger for all activities related to sales and use taxes
  • Reconciles and records monthly use tax accruals for purchases subject to sales tax
  • Collaborates with external property tax firms to reduce property tax liabilities, under the guidance of the Senior Accountant - Tax and Director of Tax
  • Assists in the implementation of new transactional tax software, as needed

Qualifications

Requirements for Success:

  • 2+ years of experience in sales and use tax; experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry is a plus
  • Experience with sales and use tax audits is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office; experience with Fortune 500 or large private company ERP financial systems, Workday financials experience is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities that may be constantly changing
  • Self-driven, flexible, and highly energetic with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred
